At the Tri-State Railway Historical Society's monthly meeting, GPCo author and editor Richard J. King will be giving a presentation on his current book project, The Railroads of Aldene. The presentation focuses on the various railroads of the one-square-mile Aldene, NJ area (including parts of Cranford, Roselle, and Roselle Park), which at one time contained the Central Railroad of New Jersey, Lehigh Valley, Baltimore & Ohio, Staten Island Rapid Transit, Rahway Valley, and Reading. From the first laying of rails in the 1870s through modern-day operations (Conrail, NJ Transit, Susquehanna, and Morristown & Erie), King will talk about the multiple interchanges and flow of traffic through one of New Jersey’s busiest railroad intersections. King’s book, The Railroads of Aldene, will be available from The Garbely Publishing Company near the end of 2016.
